RESPONSIBILITY IN ALL WE DO |

Hygiene,
Health & Safety
In a business were hygiene, health and safety
are paramount to the welfare of all concerned
Almond Catering take our responsibility very
seriously. All our contracts operate with
a comprehensive Hygiene, Health and Safety
Manual that is updated on a regular basis
as new Regulations come into force. We cannot
overstate the critical importance we place
on maintaining the highest standard of health,
safety and food hygiene throughout our entire
operation.
Induction
In a climate were attracting competent staff
is a challenge we place a great deal of emphasis
on induction and training. First impressions
are lasting and on appointment it is important
that our managers complete a thorough 26 week
induction programme with all new staff. Moreover,
as a business we measure staff retention.
The Induction manual provides the manager
with guidance on appraising staff and developing
the unit training plan.
Training
Training is fundamental to the success of
our business. We take the welfare and development
of our staff seriously and adopt a structured
approach toward their training and development.
The training we provide has two key elements,
firstly the Legislative training such as Food
Hygiene, Health and Safety, COSHH and Fire
Safety Procedures.
Secondly, we provide a full range of in house
training as a means of supporting our business,
growing our own people for succession and
delivering the benefits that will accrue to
our client through a well-trained workforce.
Quality Assurance
Our quality assurance programme is based on
measuring our performance in a transparent
manner through the use of a Service Level
Agreement (SLA) that includes a number of
Key Performance Indicators, (KPI’s).
Prior to the commencement of a new contract
we would agree the operating targets with
the client and detail these within the SLA.
At the end of each quarter our performance
will be measured using the SLA. This system
provides a tangible method of determining
progress and driving continuous improvement.
Targets are not set in tablets of stone. The
SLA should not be seen as a straight jacket
and can be amended to suit a change in the
needs of the client as deemed appropriate.
By continually monitoring and assessing standards
we maintain full control over the quality
of our service. Our quality system provides
our clients with a level of real time management
information that is invaluable in setting
business objectives.
PERSONNEL GUIDANCE SYSTEM
We are pleased to confirm the launch of our new Personnel Guidance System that includes a Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual and a Personnel Handbook for all staff. Working together with specialist practitioners at Mentor Employment Law Services, part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, the System has been specifically developed for our business and is an essential tool for ensuring that we comply with managing and implementing employment law.
The Personnel Guidance System is a comprehensive and an invaluable resource that is easy to use and gives immediate guidance and practical advice matching the legal requirements with our own method of operation. The System is used in conjunction with the 24 hour Telephone Advisory Service available through Mentor who will provide specific advice for specific situations. With updates throughout the year Almond’s management are kept up to speed with any developments with Employment Law.
The Policies and Procedures detailed within the Personnel Guidance System together with the Induction Manual create a framework that not only reflects our values but supports our Mission to be the best independent foodservice provider in the industry.
